2 1/4 tsp. shortening
1/4 C. of sliced almonds (for the ears)
25 maraschino cherries (for the body and tail)
25 chocolate kisses (for the noses)
white frosting (for the eyes)

PREPARATION:
Drain cherries and be sure to keep the stems intact.
Twist apart Oreo cookies. Set aside the sides with the cream filling; Save plain halves for another use, like a piece of cake.
In microwave or double boiler, melt chocolate and shortening; Stir until smooth - If you prefer, you can use chocolate almond and do not include fat.
